This is a very good exercise in cutting a long workpiece in a 3 jaws chuck of the center lathe and supporting by a tailstock center as well.

Benefit of this clamping method is which can hold a limited length of workpiece in the 3 jaws chuck and overhanging a long distance of the workpiece.
