hand tools including files, hacksaw, hammer, scriber, calipers, dividers,
steel rule, chisel, surface plate, surface gauge, vernier calipers,
micrometer, vee-block, centre punch.
- Marking out principal
and hands-on practice on marking out tools.
- Fitting practice
including filing, sawing, drilling, reaming, and thread cutting. Introduction
to turning and milling processes.
- Applications and
limitations of each machining process.
- Construction of
centre lathe and vertical milling machine.
- Use of tooling
and set up procedures.
- Safety and maintenance
features in using these machines.
- Hands-on practice
including turning, facing, parting off, taper turning, face milling,
side milling, boring, and slot milling.

(1481) Integrated Engineering
Project (4 weeks)
- This training module
aims to develop students a good understanding on the design and make
of an engineering device.
- Training Contents
:- Design
and drafting. Choice
and selection of engineering materials, equipemnt, and processes. Project
planning, control, coordination, and costing.
- Workshop activities
include :- Use
and application of conventional machine tools - lathe, milling machine,
shaping machine, and grinding machine. Use
and application of AMT equipment CNC
lathe & CNC milling, Electro Discharge Machining, Wire-cut EDM, CNC
Grinding, Laser material processing, and precision measurement using
CMMs.
- Fitting, assembly,
and testing of the project.
