Requirement

For this portable paper slicer, there are several requirements that need to satified:

1. Workable
   The basic requirement of the paper slicer is that must be workable. By the working principle of paper slicer, cutters and spacers will be made. Then they will be fixed onto the shaft. Gears and bearings will also fix onto the shaft, by the motor, the shafts will be rotating, so that paper will be cut.
   The rotating speed is also a key point, it should be optimized. If it is too fast then the motor cannot supply sufficient power. We control the rotation speed by controlling the gear ratio.
   Also, jamming of paper must be avoided. It is because the paper may fix the cutting tools, and the motor may out of order. A safety guard can be used to solve this problem. To avoid this problem, a reversible switch are also will be used.


2. Able for maintenance
   Unexpected problem may occur when paper slicer is working. For maintenance, we will install the casing by using screw and nuts. Therefore it is easily to be broken down; it is also convenient for demonstration.


3. Portable
   A main theme of this paper slicer is portable. So, the design should be simple without complicate parts. To reduce the weight, low density material will be used, such as plastic, aluminum plate. Also we may make it into a small design but with same function

There are some optional choices for us, for example, we may make it into a sensor controlled design, and it will be more users friendly.

Also, for a high quality product, we can create a paper slicer with cross – cut, to cut the paper into small diamond shape pieces.
